A truly Magic Moment

“Amazing”, “inspiring”, “the best ever”, magical”. These – and many other words of praise – flooded in from the almost 200 people, of all ages, who crowded into the Morris Tillkoff Hall at Cockfosters and N Southgate Synagogue on, 22 April, to mark Yom HaZikaron and celebrate Yom Ha’Atzmaut.

This year, once again, we were privileged to be joined by the Magic Moments group of teenagers from Maale Yosef in Galilee, sponsored by the UJIA, who have been hosted by CNSS community families for the week. They brought a very special meaning to Yom Hazikaron.

After maariv, the mood changed dramatically, when the Wolfson Hillel Primary School choir entertained and led our Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebrations. This was followed by an Israeli themed buffet supper and Israeli dancing.

An enormous ‘thank you’ goes to Jon Barron who, together with Michael Jennings, masterminded the whole event including organising the hosting, to the host families, to the UJIA and to Rabbi and Rebbetzen Epstein for their enormous encouragement and advice.

Next stop: our CNSS Yom Yerushalayim breakfast with guest speaker, on Sunday 17 May!
